Wild Wood, Space and Connection
This work aims to make the non-standard - in this case wild wood tree thinnings - functional and usable in construction by developing a standardized joint and assembly. We used computational strategies to assemble up-cycled and somewhat non-marketable wood into modules that can then be aggregated to generate vaulted spaces. Using generative computational methods, we are striving to develop a material ethics by making the non-standard element simple to join and construct with.
