Peculiar Artifacts from a Global Pandemic

The year 2020 brought new and intense attention to the act of hand washing. The World Health Organization’s guidelines and gestural suggestions are being carried out with a ritual like obsession. The use of soap and the process of washing away served as a launching point for this project, which began through understanding, interpreting, and designing for these six gestures. The form is a result of working the material with my hands the same way I would carry out each gesture from the WHO. This collection of work will both question permanence and ensure that the soap continues to exist as a ghost as a series of peculiar artifacts, relics of my summer in quarantine.
